About the Role: The Shipping Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate movement of goods within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for overseeing all shipping and receiving activities, maintaining inventory accuracy, and optimizing warehouse operations to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments. By leading a team of warehouse personnel, this role ensures that all shipping processes are executed timely and accurately, minimizing errors and delays. Duties & Responsibilities: Oversee inventory identification, storage, tracking, movement, and accuracy to support production schedules and customer delivery requirements. Coordinate daily warehouse operations, ensuring adequate coverage, efficient material flow, and effective prioritization of shipping, receiving, and inventory activities. Investigate inventory discrepancies, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain inventory integrity. Perform and support warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, returns processing, cycle counting, and material movements as needed or during staffing shortages. Train, coach, and support warehouse personnel to ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. Assist with quarterly and annual physical inventory activities, including count preparation, team leadership, inventory verification, and system transaction accuracy. Coordinate resources, including personnel, materials, equipment, and warehouse capacity, to meet operational priorities established by the Inventory Control Manager. Proactively communicate operational challenges, inventory concerns, equipment issues, or resource constraints to the Inventory Control Manager and recommend solutions to maintain workflow continuity. Support continuous improvement efforts focused on inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, material handling processes, and on-time customer shipments. Ensure compliance with company safety policies, customer requirements, and quality management system standards related to shipping and warehousing operations. Train, mentor, and lead warehouse staff to maintain high performance and adherence to company policies and procedures. Utilize Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems to generate reports, track shipments, and analyze operational data. Implement and continuously improve receiving procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the warehouse. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in inventory management and cycle counting processes. Valid forklift operator certification and demonstrated safe operation experience. Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and warehouse safety standards. Working knowledge of inventory control principles, warehouse operations, shipping documentation, and material handling processes. Experience using ERP/MRP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory scanners, and Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing production and customer requirements. Ability to work collaboratively with production, planning, customer service, and quality teams. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required. Knowledge of warehouse safety practices, OSHA requirements, and 5S principles.
