Blue Bell CreameriesRole Summary The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, and shipping finished goods in accordance with company standards, customer requirements, and safety regulations. This role ensures accurate order fulfillment, timely shipments, proper documentation, and efficient movement of trailers within the yard and dock areas using yard dog/spotter truck equipment as needed within a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and package finished products for shipment according to work orders, packing lists, and customer specifications. Verify product quantities, code dates, and labeling accuracy prior to shipment. Load and unload shipments using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment. Generate, review, and maintain shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping labels. Maintain accurate inventory records and update shipping transactions in ERP or warehouse management systems. Inspect outgoing shipments for damage or quality issues and report discrepancies. Operate yard dog/spotter truck to safely move, stage, and position trailers in the yard, dock doors, and designated loading areas as needed. Perform pre-use inspections of yard dog equipment and report maintenance, safety, or trailer-related concerns promptly. Communicate with shipping, warehouse, and transportation personnel to coordinate trailer movement and maintain efficient dock flow. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and housekeeping standards. Assist with inventory counts and general warehouse organization. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Load or unload trucks (18-wheeler trailers) and placing products in cold storage warehouse. loading sales trucks with products for route deliveries. Keeping warehouse organized, clean and safe. Assist in periodic maintenance of facility. Qualifications Previous experience in shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred. Ability to operate or learn to operate a yard dog/spotter truck safely in accordance with company procedures. Basic computer skills and experience with shipping or inventory systems. Ability to read and interpret work orders, packing lists, and shipping documents. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical Requirements Mobility: Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift. Manual Dexterity: Must be able to perform repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to convey detailed spoken instructions to other coworkers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Visual acuity both near and far: Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers, as well as clarity of vision at 20 feet or more- this is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well. Hearing: The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes or alarms). Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to continuously lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Operation of material handling equipment. Work Environment Manufacturing, warehouse, dock, and outdoor yard environment, including regular activity around trailers, dock doors, loading areas, and vehicle traffic. Exposure to noise, moving equipment, forklifts, yard dog/spotter truck operation, backing trailers, cold storage areas, weather conditions, and varying temperatures; use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Work requires attention to safety, surroundings, and communication with warehouse, shipping, and transportation personnel while performing duties in active work areas.
