Based in Edmonton, Alberta, our operations include the design and fabrication of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, air-cooled heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and other custom process equipment, along with field and maintenance services. We are growing and are looking for an experienced Shell & Tube Engineer to join our Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design and engineering of shell-and-tube heat exchangers and pressure equipment and will support projects from initial design through fabrication and delivery. Responsibilities · Design shell-and-tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and related pressure equipment. · Prepare design calculations, detailed drawings, datasheets, specifications, and supporting technical documentation. · Ensure designs meet applicable ASME, TEMA, API, regulatory, customer, and Altex requirements. · Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation. · Review customer specifications and project requirements to ensure the scope and design requirements are clearly understood. · Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Project Management, Supply Chain, and other departments throughout project execution. · Communicate with customers to clarify technical and design requirements. · Follow assigned projects throughout the manufacturing process, including regular shop walk-downs from fabrication start through delivery. · Provide technical support during fabrication and assist with resolving design questions, NCRs, and other technical issues. · Support other Altex departments with the interpretation and application of applicable codes and standards. · Design structures and equipment as required to support the fabrication facility and Field Services operations. · Assist with the development and improvement of engineering standards, procedures, tools, and processes. · Participate in training and professional development as required. · Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications · Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. · Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA. · 5–10 years of engineering experience in pressure equipment design. · Experience designing shell-and-tube heat exchangers. · Strong knowledge and practical application of ASME and TEMA codes and standards. · Experience with applicable API codes and standards. · Ability to independently manage assigned engineering work and exercise professional engineering judgment. · Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. · Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. · Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills. · Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a high level of integrity. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft-based operating systems. Preferred Qualifications · Experience using pressure vessel design software, with PVELite, and COMPRESS experience preferred. · Experience working in a pressure equipment fabrication or manufacturing environment. · Experience providing engineering support throughout the fabrication process. · Experience working directly with Production and Quality teams to resolve technical and fabrication issues. · Experience interpreting customer specifications and translating requirements into equipment designs.
