Service Writer / Parts Consultant Mid Michigan Outdoor Products | Stanton, MI Pay: $40,000–$60,000 per year Job Type: Full-time Work Location: In person Our Team Is Growing and Expanding! Mid Michigan Outdoor Products is looking for a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Service Writer / Parts Consultant to join our growing team! This position connects our customers with our service and parts departments. From checking in equipment and communicating repair updates to finding the right parts, you’ll help deliver a smooth customer experience. Primary Responsibilities Greet customers in person and by phone, listen to their needs, and provide friendly, professional assistance. Check in equipment for service and accurately document customer concerns, equipment information, and requested repairs. Create and maintain work orders with complete notes, customer approvals, and accurate parts and labor information. Coordinate with the service manager and technicians to communicate repair needs, priorities, and job progress. Explain estimates, obtain customer authorization, and communicate changes in repair costs or timelines. Keep customers updated throughout the service process and follow through on questions and requests. Help customers identify and purchase the correct parts, accessories, and maintenance supplies. Use parts diagrams, manufacturer resources, and dealership software to research parts and availability. Prepare parts quotes, place orders, track special orders, and notify customers when parts arrive. Coordinate parts needed for shop repairs and help ensure they are assigned to the correct work orders. Assist with receiving, stocking, inventory counts, and maintaining an organized parts department. Review completed work orders, explain services performed, process payments, and coordinate equipment pickup or delivery. Recommend appropriate maintenance services, parts, and accessories based on customer needs. Keep the service counter and customer areas clean, organized, and professional. Be willing to help in other areas of the company as needed. Requirements Strong customer service and communication skills. Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities throughout the day. Able to work independently while coordinating closely with teammates. Comfortable using computers, looking up parts, and learning dealership software. Able to accurately document conversations, repair requests, orders, and customer approvals. Willing to learn our equipment lines, parts systems, and service processes. Comfortable handling customer concerns professionally and following through on commitments. Able to safely lift at least 50 pounds and assist with moving parts and inventory. Previous experience in service writing, parts sales, outdoor power equipment, automotive, agricultural equipment, or a related field is preferred. Mechanical knowledge and familiarity with tractors, mowers, handheld equipment, or snow equipment are a plus.
