Formations IncSenior Woodworking CNC Operator Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and efficient Senior Woodworking CNC Operator for our CNC department. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and optimization of our multi-axis CNC routers. You will also implement the workflow, troubleshoot cutting issues, and mentor entry-level operators. As a senior team member, you will bridge the gap between design and production. You will ensure maximum material yield, minimal cycle times, and the highest quality standards for our wood products. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, works independently, and brings a proactive approach to problem-solving, safety, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities CNC Setup & Operation: Set up and operate 3-axis and multi-axis CNC routers to complete job files. Tooling & Inventory Management: Manage the tooling inventory, select appropriate bits for the material, and maintain a rigorous tool-sharpening schedule. Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex machine errors, finish defects (like tear-out or burning), and mechanical issues independently. Leadership & Mentorship: Train, mentor, and supervise junior operators, ensuring safety compliance and standard operating procedures are followed. Preventative Maintenance: Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines. Qualifications & Skills Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience operating CNC routers in a commercial woodworking or cabinetry environment. Technical Expertise: An understanding of tool paths and feed rates. Precision Measuring: Mastery of calipers,and indicators to maintain tolerances within strict fractions of a millimeter. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and operate machinery for the duration of a shift. Ability to lift, flip, and manipulate large sheet goods or heavy hardwood slabs weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) . High comfort level working in a fast-paced, high-output production environment. Work Environment Full-time, in-person position in a manufacturing facility. Fast-paced, high-volume production environment where safety, quality, and efficiency matter. Flexibility to work day or night shifts based on operational requirements.
