Senior Natural Gas Scheduler

Natural Gas Scheduler Location: Austin Employment: Full-time The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Natural Gas Scheduler to join a growing energy trading business. The role will sit within the scheduling function and will be responsible for the accurate and efficient management of physical natural gas positions. You will work closely with the trading team, counterparties and wider operational functions to ensure positions are managed effectively and all nominations and contractual obligations are met. This is a hands-on role within a fast-moving trading environment, suited to someone with existing natural gas scheduling experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. There is also a clear longer-term pathway into a commercial trading role for the right individual. This is not a requirement of the position, but the opportunity is available for someone who demonstrates the commercial aptitude, market understanding and ambition to make that transition over time. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day scheduling of physical natural gas positions. Submit and manage nominations across relevant gas networks and markets. Monitor physical positions, flows and contractual obligations. Coordinate closely with traders to ensure positions are executed and managed effectively. Liaise with counterparties, network operators and other market participants. Monitor changes to nominations, flows and market conditions and respond accordingly. Identify and resolve scheduling discrepancies and operational issues. Ensure all activity is completed accurately and within relevant market deadlines. Maintain accurate scheduling records and position information. Support the trading team with accurate and timely information on physical positions. Work collaboratively with trading, operations, risk and other internal teams. Contribute to improving scheduling processes, systems and controls. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone with solid experience in natural gas scheduling who understands the physical market and is comfortable operating in a trading environment. You'll ideally have: Proven experience within a natural gas scheduling role. A strong understanding of US natural gas markets. Experience managing nominations, physical positions and contractual obligations. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail. The ability to work accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. The ability to work closely with traders and understand the commercial implications of scheduling decisions. A genuine interest in energy markets and the commercial side of the business.
