We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager or Director of Inventory & Buying Operations to lead our jewelry inventory, purchasing, and sourcing functions. This is an exciting opportunity for a jewelry industry professional who combines strong operational leadership with extensive knowledge of diamonds, gemstones, fine jewelry, and luxury purchasing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, commercially minded, detail-oriented, and passionate about the fine jewelry industry. What You'll Do Inventory Management & Operations Oversee all aspects of high-value jewelry inventory, including accuracy, security, controls, and inventory management systems. Develop and improve inventory processes to maximize efficiency, accountability, and profitability. Manage inventory movement and coordination between Sales, Production, suppliers, and workshops. Partner with Finance and executive leadership on inventory planning, purchasing budgets, and forecasting. Ensure quality control and accurate inventory documentation. Buying, Sourcing & Vendor Management Lead purchasing and sourcing strategies for diamonds, colored gemstones, precious materials, and finished fine jewelry. Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international vendors, designers, and suppliers. Negotiate pricing, purchasing terms, and vendor agreements to maximize value and profitability. Identify exceptional gemstones, jewelry pieces, and sourcing opportunities that align with the Stephen Silver brand. Support special orders, custom jewelry projects, and unique sourcing requests for VIP clientele. Monitor industry trends, market conditions, pricing, and inventory demand. Maintain high standards for product quality, ethical sourcing, and supplier performance. Leadership & Collaboration Lead, mentor, and develop the inventory and buying team. Collaborate closely with executive leadership, Sales, Finance, and Production. Establish operational best practices and improve communication across departments. Provide strategic recommendations to support purchasing decisions, inventory investments, and business growth. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the fine jewelry or luxury jewelry industry, with a focus on buying, sourcing, inventory management, procurement, or operations. Strong knowledge of diamonds, colored gemstones, precious metals, and fine jewelry manufacturing. Demonstrated experience managing high-value inventory and inventory control systems. Proven ability to negotiate with jewelry vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers. Strong understanding of purchasing strategies, pricing, margins, and inventory profitability. Experience leading teams, managing priorities, and improving operational processes. Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail, professionalism, and discretion. Preferred Qualifications GIA Graduate Gemologist (GG) designation or equivalent gemological education or certification. Established relationships within the diamond, gemstone, and fine jewelry supplier community. Experience purchasing and sourcing rare or exceptional gemstones and high-end fine jewelry.
