About the Role: The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading purchasing and supply chain activities that support a fast-paced manufacturing operation. This role goes beyond transactional purchasing and requires a strategic thinker who can manage supplier relationships, negotiate favorable pricing and contracts, identify cost-saving opportunities, ensure material availability, and support inventory planning. The Senior Buyer serves as a key partner to Operations, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Finance to ensure uninterrupted business operations and continuous improvement of the supply chain. Your Responsibilities: Strategic Purchasing & Supplier Management Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery, service, and cost objectives are consistently met. Cost Savings & Continuous Improvement Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, value engineering, and process improvements. Analyze spending trends and purchasing data to uncover savings opportunities. Support inventory optimization initiatives while maintaining operational requirements. Drive continuous improvement efforts related to procurement processes and supplier performance. Materials & Supply Chain Management Manage purchasing activities to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, MRO, and production-related materials. Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with Operations and Production Planning to maintain appropriate stock levels. Assist in material planning, forecasting, and replenishment activities. Identify potential supply shortages or disruptions and implement corrective actions before they impact production. Support supply chain planning efforts to improve inventory accuracy, material availability, and overall operational efficiency. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Operations, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Finance departments to support business objectives. Participate in new product launches, capital projects, and process improvement initiatives involving purchased materials and services. Communicate market conditions, supplier risks, pricing trends, and supply constraints to leadership. Serve as a key resource for purchasing and supply chain-related decisions across the organization. Systems & Reporting Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing activities, supplier performance, inventory transactions, and reporting. Analyze purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance data to support decision-making. Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing agreements, and supplier documentation. Prepare reports and presentations related to procurement performance, inventory trends, and cost savings initiatives Solicit and evaluate supplier quotations, proposals, and bids. Lead negotiations for pricing, payment terms, contracts, service agreements, and long-term supply arrangements. Develop sourcing strategies that support business objectives and mitigate supply chain risks. Evaluate supplier performance through metrics such as delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness. Proactively identify and qualify alternate suppliers as needed. What You Will Bring: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
