As a Security Officer conducting Permitter Patrols at a Transit Railyard in Jamaica, NY , this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you. Pay Rate: $23.88 / Hour Job Schedule: Day Time Sun 03:00 PM - 11:00 PM How This Role Works: Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment. Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you. This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed. Responsibilities: Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, and/or personnel by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a public transportation location. Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of stations, platforms, concourses, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns. Monitor access points and public areas, report suspicious activity, hazards, and/or policy violations, and maintain awareness of rail operations and passenger movement. Respond to incidents, service disruptions, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with appropriate transit personnel and emergency responders as needed. Document observations, incidents, and patrol activities in accordance with site procedures and Allied Universal requirements. Minimum Requirements: Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws. As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law. Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment. A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
