Midland Independent School DistrictPOSITION: Secretary to Director of Transportation EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt NUMBER OF DAYS: 226 PAY GRADE: Clerical PG-6 DIVISION: DEPARTMENT : Transportation REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation SUPERVISES: EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED EXPERIENCE: Typing skills Position Function/Purpose To supervise all of the clerical work that is related to the operation of the Transportation Department. To maintain appropriate communications with related departments. Major Responsibilities and Duties Process payroll operations Process and maintain employment records Process and maintain records of driver certification Maintain current driver physical exam file Maintain files for TEA transportation reports Process and distribute department mail Process and reconcile driver expense checks Maintain current vehicle inventory Answer telephone calls Fill out intake forms on new hires Maintain and perform all normal clerical operations Bookkeeping for activity and vendor funds Maintain and process purchase orders Oversee protocol for bus accidents Perform such other duties as assigned by the director Qualification Requirements Minimum Certification/Education: High School Diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills: Prior secretarial experience preferred Basic computer knowledge Minimum Experience: Typing skills of at least 50 wpm Physical Demands 1. Moderate lifting (15 – 44 lbs.) 2. Moderate carrying (15 – 44 lbs.) 3. Use of fingers 4. Walking 5. Standing 6. Repeated Bending Equipment used 1. Typewriter 2. Computer 3. Printer 4. Copier 5.
