Remote Purchasing Agent/Procurement Specialist (Infor XA/ MAPICS)

Overview We are an established manufacturing company specializing in high-mix, low-volume electronics, machined components, and precision instrumentation. We are seeking an experienced Remote Purchasing Agent with direct, hands-on expertise in Infor XA (MAPICS) . Because our operating system relies heavily on Infor XA data structures, the ideal candidate must hit the ground running without needing system training. You will manage the end-to-end procurement process, optimize inventory levels using XA’s material planning engines, and manage vendor relationships across our distinct electronic and mechanical component supply chains. Key Responsibilities Infor XA Management: Utilize Infor XA modules (including Purchasing, Item Master, and Material Requirements Planning) to manage purchase orders, track lead times, and maintain accurate pricing files. Material Planning: Monitor and act upon system-generated MRP recommendations to ensure a steady supply of raw stock, electronic components, and custom hardware. Vendor Management: Source, negotiate with, and evaluate suppliers for electronic components, raw metals, and specialty hardware to secure optimal pricing, quality, and lead times. BOM Coordination: Partner closely with our engineering team to review Bills of Materials (BOMs), handle item revisions, and minimize material shortages before production kickoff. Expediting & Logistics: Proactively identify supply chain bottlenecks, expedite critical orders, and update the internal team on delivery statuses within the XA environment. Required Qualifications System Expertise: Minimum 3+ years of direct experience operating within Infor XA or MAPICS. Must be highly comfortable navigating the environment (whether via green-screen or NetLink architecture). Manufacturing Background: Experience purchasing for discrete manufacturing environments, specifically electronics, CNC machining, or industrial instrumentation. Technical Literacy: Ability to read blueprints, interpret engineering drawings, and understand complex Bills of Materials (BOMs). Supply Chain Skills: Proven track record in vendor negotiation, contract management, and inventory optimization. Remote Independence: Excellent time management and communication skills, with a proven ability to work productively in a 100% remote layout. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Infor XA NetLink or Enterprise Integrator customization. APICS / ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP). Experience transitioning legacy MAPICS data or participating in Infor XA release upgrades.
