Regional Hotshot Driver
ConfidentialWhy Phoenix 907 We're a new carrier building our fleet out of our own yard in Decatur, IL. You won't be driver #4,000 — you'll be one of our first, and the standards you help set now are the ones this fleet will run on. You earn a share of every load, so your check moves when the truck moves. A weekly guarantee means a slow freight week is our problem, not yours. And when you keep your rig road-ready, you get paid for that work too. Much of our freight comes from our affiliated industrial equipment business, so you're not living off the load board alone. How You Get Paid Load Share: 28% of gross line-haul revenue on every load you run (30% with a Class A CDL). You see the rate on every load you haul. Weekly Guarantee: $1,000 minimum for any full week (Monday–Friday) you're available for dispatch. Tarp Pay: $50 per load requiring a full tarp. Extra Stops & Detention: $35 per additional stop; $25/hour detention after the first 2 hours at a shipper or receiver. Shop & Roadside Pay: $25/hour for approved maintenance at our Decatur yard or on the road: oil changes, bearing repacks, greasing, deck oiling, tire changes, lights, and brake adjustments. Uptime Bonus: $250 per month when your truck has zero preventable breakdowns, PMs are done on schedule, and every DVIR is complete. Clean Inspection Bonus: $100 per clean DOT roadside inspection (Level 1, 2, or 3). Paid Leave & Weekly Pay: Paid leave every year, and direct deposit every Friday. No holdbacks. Example week: 4 loads, about 2,000 loaded miles, $3,900 gross line-haul. At 28% that's $1,092, plus 2 tarps ($100) and 2 hours of detention ($50) = $1,242. A Class A driver on the same week earns $1,320. Actual pay depends on freight and rates; the weekly guarantee sets your floor. Your Rig Trucks: Pre-emissions diesel hotshot trucks: no DEF, no DPF regens, no emissions-system downtime. Proven, mechanically simple platforms maintained to a written standard, with newer units added as the fleet grows. Trailers: 25–40 ft gooseneck flatbeds (deck-over, ramps, rub rails, stake pockets, toolbox), set up for legal non-CDL operation. Securement Kit: 4" straps, ratchet binders, grade 70 transport chains, edge protectors, and lumber tarps supplied. Fuel Card: Company fuel card. Zero out-of-pocket road expenses. Tech: Smartphone app for dispatch, DVIRs, load photos, and paperwork. Hours of Service logged per FMCSA rules (ELD or paper, depending on the truck's engine year). Schedule & Home Time Home Weekly: Typically Friday evening through Sunday night, covering your 34-hour reset. Weekly Target: 1,800–2,200 loaded miles over 5 operating days. Lanes: Regional Midwest, Ohio Valley, and central corridors (I-72, I-55, I-57, I-74, I-70, I-65). A Week on the Road Monday: Pre-trip at the yard or from home and roll on your first load. We plan the week's first loads the Friday before whenever possible. Every Load: Confirm load details with dispatch, inspect the freight, secure and tarp it, photograph your securement before you roll, re-check within the first 50 miles, and send check calls at pickup, departure, and arrival. Upload the signed BOL/POD at delivery. Every Day: Pre-trip and post-trip DVIR in the app, keep your HOS log current, fuel on the card, and upload receipts. Friday: Head home, review your settlement, and flag any PM items so the yard has parts ready Monday. Primary Responsibilities Drive safe and legal: Operate the truck and trailer in compliance with all FMCSA, DOT, and state regulations, including Hours of Service. Inspect: Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip DVIRs every day and report defects the same day. Secure: Block, brace, strap, chain, and tarp freight (machinery, steel, building materials, industrial equipment) to FMCSA cargo securement standards. Document securement: Photograph every secured load before departure (all sides and tie-down points) and upload to dispatch. Re-check securement within the first 50 miles and every 150 miles or 3 hours af…
