Regional Class A CDL Driver Department: Logistics Position Type: Full-Time Reports To: Transportation Manager Classification: Non-Exempt Position Summary Amigos Meat Distributors is seeking an experienced and dependable regional Class A CDL Driver to join our Chicago transportation team. The Driver will be responsible for safely transporting and delivering refrigerated and frozen meat products to customers and designated locations across assigned interstate routes. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, timely deliveries, DOT compliance, and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious professional who can operate independently, maintain delivery schedules, and represent Amigos Meat with professionalism. Key Responsibilities Transportation & Deliveries · Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers and refrigerated trailers. · Transport refrigerated and frozen meat products across assigned interstate routes. · Complete scheduled pickups and deliveries accurately and on time. · Verify shipment quantities and documentation before departure and upon delivery. · Assist with loading and unloading products when required. · Communicate delays, delivery issues, or route changes to management. · Maintain accurate bills of lading, delivery receipts, and transportation records, and collect customer payments when required, including cash payments. Safety & DOT Compliance · Comply with all applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), DOT, and state transportation regulations. · Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. · Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records and comply with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations. · Immediately report accidents, vehicle damage, mechanical concerns, and safety violations. · Follow company safety procedures and cargo securement requirements. · Maintain a valid CDL Class A license and required medical certification. · Participate in required DOT drug and alcohol testing programs. Equipment & Product Handling · Monitor refrigerated trailer temperatures to maintain product quality and food safety. · Ensure cargo is properly secured to prevent shifting or damage during transit. · Maintain assigned vehicles and trailers in clean and professional condition. · Report maintenance concerns and coordinate necessary repairs. · Follow company sanitation and food-handling procedures. Communication & Customer Service · Maintain professional communication with customers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and management. · Provide timely updates regarding delivery status and unexpected delays. · Represent Amigos Meat professionally at customer and supplier locations. · Follow all company policies regarding attendance, conduct, and equipment usage. Minimum Qualifications · Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). · Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred. · Experience operating tractor-trailers on interstate routes. · Ability to meet all applicable DOT driver qualification requirements. · Valid DOT medical certification, as required. · Acceptable driving record in accordance with company standards and insurance requirements. · Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service, and electronic logging systems. · Ability to operate refrigerated trailers and monitor temperature-controlled shipments. · Ability and willingness to travel overnight and work extended or variable schedules. · Ability to communicate effectively with dispatch and management. Preferred Qualifications · Previous experience in food distribution, meat transportation, or refrigerated freight. · Experience operating refrigerated tractor-trailers (reefers). ·…
