Transport Refrigeration Technician (Reefer Tech) Location: Beaverton, OR (Greater Portland Area) Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent Position Summary On behalf of an industry-leading global container and cold-chain equipment provider, we are seeking a skilled, hands-on Transport Refrigeration Technician (Reefer Tech) to join their operations team in Beaverton, Oregon. In this critical role, you will perform preventive maintenance, routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on refrigerated (reefer) containers and trailers. You will ensure that all temperature-controlled equipment operates safely, reliably, and in full compliance with U.S. regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, FDA) to protect cold-chain integrity for customer fleets. Key Responsibilities Refrigeration Maintenance & Repair Perform routine preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing on refrigerated containers and trailer units. Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system faults across diverse transport units. Conduct thorough pre-trip, pre-load, and post-return inspections on reefer equipment. Handle refrigerants, execute leak detection, and perform system recharges in strict accordance with EPA guidelines. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize operational downtime. Compliance & Safety Maintain strict adherence to OSHA safety standards, EPA Section 608 rules, and company safety protocols. Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain active hazard awareness at all times. Complete and maintain detailed digital service records, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation. Ensure all equipment meets FDA food safety and strict temperature regulation requirements. Participate in periodic equipment audits and compliance reviews. Operational Support Collaborate with local operations and dispatch teams to schedule repairs and routine servicing efficiently. Provide technical guidance and support to operational personnel as required. Track spare parts inventory, monitor stock usage, and report restocking requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across shop maintenance operations. Key Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Proven experience in hands-on servicing, diagnostic troubleshooting, and repair of transport refrigeration or mobile HVAC units (e.g., Thermo King, Carrier Transicold, Star Cool). Certifications: Valid EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred; Type II required). Licensing: Valid U.S. Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Technical Skills: Strong diagnostic capabilities across refrigeration circuits, 12V/24V electrical control systems, and mechanical components. Digital Literacy: Ability to use digital maintenance logging software and mobile reporting apps. Work Style: Self-motivated, attentive to safety standards, and capable of working independently in shop or field environments. What Is Offered Competitive hourly compensation based on experience.
