Overview We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Reefer Technician to join our team and ensure the optimal operation of refrigerated transport equipment. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting refrigeration units and mechanical systems on refrigerated trucks and trailers. Your expertise will help keep our fleet running smoothly, ensuring products are preserved at the correct temperatures and delivered on time. Duties Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on reefer units and related refrigeration equipment to ensure reliable performance. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and equipment troubleshooting techniques. Repair or replace HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) components, compressors, fans, thermostats, sensors, and electrical systems within refrigeration units. Install new HVAC systems and mechanical components following manufacturer specifications and schematics. Conduct comprehensive testing of refrigeration systems after repairs to verify proper operation and temperature control. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and logs for all maintenance activities performed on reefer units. Assist with building automation systems related to climate control when necessary to support overall equipment efficiency. Requirements Proven experience in HVAC system repair, refrigeration maintenance, or as a service technician within construction or related industries. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as ohmmeters. Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, plumbing systems, electrical diagnostics, and equipment troubleshooting. Ability to perform HVAC system installation, repair of mechanical systems, boiler maintenance, appliance repair, and air conditioning servicing. Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems, HVAC/R (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning/Refrigeration), and HVAC system maintenance practices. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling is required; additional certifications in HVAC or appliance repair are a plus. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members. Valid van driver’s license preferred for transportation between job sites; familiarity with safety protocols is essential.
