What to Expect As a goal-oriented Tesla Recycling Yard Hostler in Semi Facilities, you will play a crucial role at the new Tesla Semi Factory in Nevada, in Facilities Operations, Recycling. This role combines two jobs. You will run the tractor-trailer yard side of recycling, and you will operate the heavy equipment that processes recyclables, scrap and trash. What You'll Do Use an industrial yard tractor or truck to move, position and park 53 ft. trailers, including recycling, scrap and waste trailers, between the yard, parking areas and docks, and hook up and unhook trailers to move them in and out of designated production spaces Record every move in internal trackers per procedure, complete yard checks, and confirm trailers are loaded or empty Do daily inspections and safety checks on trucks, tractors and trailers, following all applicable regulations and procedures Operate heavy equipment, including cardboard balers, foam densifiers, pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts and other recycling equipment, and spend at least 15% of your time on material handling duties Transport, sort and segregate recyclables, scrap and trash throughout the factory to maximize their value, and load and unload material, including outbound recycling hauls Protect your own safety and the safety of others, follow all company safety and security policies and procedures, and report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to your Supervisor Meet quality expectations and standards, complete and submit documentation on time, keep a clean and professional uniform and appearance, protect company assets and proprietary information, build positive working relationships with your workplace team and all production teams, and perform other reasonable duties requested by Supervisors, including supporting cross-functional teams What You'll Bring Strong command of written and verbal English, a valid U.S. driver's license, and an acceptable, safe driving record subject to review Willingness to be trained to drive and operate heavy equipment, experience using a sit-down forklift preferably within the last year, and ability to learn new skills, adapt to new work environments and learn new technology Punctuality, reliability, initiative and a professional can-do attitude, with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends Preferred experience may include one or more years of recycling, construction, landscaping, shipping, warehouse, custodial or grounds maintenance experience, previous heavy equipment operating experience, current forklift certification, CDL required, computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook, and previous yard spotter or hostler experience Stand, walk and climb frequently, including getting in and out of road and switcher tractors, and lift 30-50 lbs. daily Do physical work, including pushing, pulling, gripping, twisting and reaching, reach at different heights of 4-5 ft. to repeatedly open and close trailer doors, and crank trailer landing gear by hand frequently, every day Work both indoors and outdoors, including in a warehouse and recycling environment, and work in extreme weather, including heat, cold, wet or humid, and dry or arid conditions Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee As…
