Job Summary The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all shipping operations to ensure the accurate, timely, and efficient distribution of products to customers. This role supervises shipping staff, coordinates shipment schedules, maintains inventory accuracy, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and works closely with warehouse, customer service, and transportation teams to meet operational goals. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate all receiving operations to ensure inbound shipments are received, unloaded, inspected, and processed accurately and efficiently. Lead, train, coach, and develop receiving team members to meet productivity, quality, and safety expectations. Plan daily receiving schedules and assign labor resources based on inbound volume, staffing levels, and operational priorities. Ensure purchase orders, advance shipping notices (ASNs), and receiving documentation are verified and accurately processed. Oversee the timely unloading of trailers and containers while minimizing detention and turnaround time. Verify product quantities, item descriptions, lot numbers, and condition against shipping documentation and system records. Investigate and resolve discrepancies involving shortages, overages, damages, incorrect shipments, and labeling issues. Coordinate with Procurement, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, Transportation, and Operations teams to address receiving-related concerns. Ensure all received inventory is accurately entered into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and properly located within the facility. Monitor inventory accuracy and support cycle counting, audits, and reconciliation activities. Maintain compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and customer requirements. Enforce health and safety regulations and ensure all employees operate equipment safely and according to training requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections, investigate incidents, complete required documentation, and implement corrective actions. Monitor departmental productivity, labor utilization, and receiving performance metrics to drive operational excellence. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and throughput. Manage employee attendance, scheduling, vacation requests, and workforce planning to support operational objectives. Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and participate in employee disciplinary and development activities. Ensure adequate receiving supplies and equipment are available and maintained, including forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and dock equipment. Communicate shipment priorities, operational updates, and performance expectations through daily team meetings and shift handovers. Prepare and maintain reports related to receiving volume, productivity, inventory accuracy, vendor compliance, and operational performance. Support warehouse projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain housekeeping standards throughout receiving docks, staging areas, and storage locations. Perform other supervisory and operational duties as assigned.
