In this role, you’ll work directly with team members to unload bulk ingredients from railcars, operate transfer equipment, monitor product movement, and maintain compliance with food safety and plant safety standards. You’ll also help train and support employees, coordinate daily activities, and keep operations running smoothly.
If you enjoy working in an active industrial environment and are ready to take on a lead role, we encourage you to apply!
What You'll Do
• Coordinate Railcar Operations: Plan, coordinate, and monitor railcar unloading activities to support safe, efficient, and accurate material transfers.
• Operate Transfer Equipment: Operate and oversee pumps, valves, and related equipment used to transfer liquid and dry materials from railcars to storage tanks or silos.
• Verify Safety and Product Integrity: Confirm railcar placement and identification, inspect for cleanliness, leaks, and damage, and follow established unloading procedures.
• Monitor Product Movement: Track flow rates, volumes, temperatures, and tank levels using gauges, meters, and other equipment.
• Lead and Support the Team: Provide performance feedback, mentor team members, encourage open communication, and promote accountability and teamwork.
• Promote Safe Operations: Reinforce plant safety policies, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Maintain Accurate Records: Complete required documentation, including quantities, gauge readings, and operating times.
• Support Sanitation and Cross-Training: Coordinate cleaning and sanitation activities in the rail area and help ensure team members are cross-trained.
• Assist with Material Handling: Support inventory activities, warehouse duties, material movement, and order fulfillment as needed.
What We're Looking For
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control.
• Understanding of food safety and proper material-handling practices.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, including the proper use of safety harnesses.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to complete operational documentation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to guide, support, and motivate team members.
• A commitment to following safety procedures, PPE requirements, and established operating standards.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experience in manufacturing, warehouse operations, bulk material handling, railcar unloading, or liquid transfer operations would be beneficial.
What to Expect
This is a hands-on position in a manufacturing environment that includes outdoor work on the rail dock. The role involves frequent standing, walking, reaching, grasping, and repetitive movements, as well as regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Team members must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in designated areas and follow all required safety practices. The work environment may include high noise levels, physical obstacles, and exposure to chemicals.
