Position Summary R&S Machining is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to support daily procurement activities in our aerospace manufacturing environment. This position will be responsible for purchasing production hardware, tooling, shop supplies, consumables, maintenance materials, and other goods and services needed to support manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, capable of managing multiple purchasing requests simultaneously, and comfortable communicating with suppliers and internal departments to ensure materials and supplies arrive on time. Key Responsibilities Purchasing & Procurement Purchase aerospace hardware, fasteners, inserts, fittings, and other production components. Procure tooling, cutting tools, shop supplies, PPE, packaging materials, and general manufacturing consumables. Coordinate purchasing requests for maintenance, facilities, office supplies, and other operational needs. Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes based on pricing, availability, lead times, and quality requirements. Generate and issue purchase orders using the company's ERP system. Identify alternative suppliers and purchasing options when items are unavailable or have extended lead times. Assist with cost-saving initiatives, supplier evaluations, and purchasing process improvements. Purchase Order & Supplier Management Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with vendors regarding order acknowledgments, delivery dates, and shipment status. Expedite orders when necessary to prevent production delays. Communicate with vendors to resolve pricing discrepancies, shortages, incorrect shipments, and missing documentation. Maintain accurate purchase order records and supplier information. Coordinate with Receiving and Accounting to resolve purchasing and invoicing issues. Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships. Inventory & Operational Support Work with Inventory, Production, Engineering, and Maintenance to identify purchasing requirements. Verify inventory availability before placing orders to prevent unnecessary purchases. Help maintain appropriate stock levels of frequently used hardware and manufacturing supplies. Monitor purchasing trends and recommend stocking or blanket order opportunities for commonly used items. Assist in sourcing new products, vendors, and cost-effective alternatives. Support additional purchasing activities as directed by the Purchasing Manager. Export Control Requirement This position requires compliance with U.S export control laws and regulations.
