Purchasing Specialist

Purchasing Specialist Total Manufacturing | Metal Fabrication & Manufacturing Total Manufacturing is looking for an experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our team and help keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly. This is a hands-on purchasing role for someone who understands that getting the right material, in the right quantity, at the right time is critical to production and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing purchasing, inventory control, and BOM management and is comfortable working closely with production, engineering, vendors, and management. What You'll Do Manage purchasing of raw materials, components, hardware, supplies, and outside services. Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production requirements to determine material needs. Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are available to meet production schedules. Create and manage purchase orders, including pricing, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates. Track orders and communicate with vendors regarding lead times, shortages, delays, and changes. Maintain accurate inventory, BOM, vendor, and purchasing information in our ERP/MRP system. Work closely with Production, Engineering, Estimating, and Operations. Source materials and obtain competitive pricing from qualified suppliers. Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships. Research and resolve inventory discrepancies and purchasing issues. Identify opportunities to reduce material costs, improve inventory accuracy, and streamline purchasing processes. Purchase materials commonly used in metal fabrication, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, sheet metal, plate, tubing, hardware, and related products. Coordinate outside processing and subcontracted services when required. What We're Looking For 3+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with inventory management and control . Strong understanding of BOMs and material requirements . Experience using an ERP/MRP system . Manufacturing experience, preferably in metal fabrication, machining, welding, or a related industry . Ability to read and understand BOMs, material specifications, and basic engineering drawings. Strong Excel and computer skills. Excellent organization and attention to detail. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment. Preferred Experience Purchasing steel, aluminum, stainless steel, hardware, or fabricated components. Experience in a custom fabrication or job-shop environment. Inventory cycle counting and inventory accuracy programs. Vendor price negotiation and supplier development. Purchasing outside services such as powder coating, plating, machining, heat treating, or other subcontracted processes. Why Join Total Manufacturing?
