Purchasing & Marketing Coordinator Gear & Safety Products — Erie, PA Full-Time | Monday–Friday | On-Site Gear & Safety Products is seeking an organized, dependable and motivated Purchasing Agent & Product Coordinator to join our team. Gear & Safety Products is an established Erie-based distributor and manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE), work gloves, high-visibility apparel, workwear, fall protection and industrial safety products. We represent many leading manufacturers while also developing and marketing our own proprietary products and brands. The primary responsibility of this position will be purchasing, inventory replenishment and vendor coordination. The position will also assist with product information, catalogs, website content, proprietary products and several industry trade shows each year. This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys working with products, numbers, vendors and computer systems and would like to grow into a larger role within a small, established company. Primary Responsibilities Purchasing & Inventory Review inventory levels and determine products that need to be reordered. Prepare and submit purchase orders to suppliers. Monitor open purchase orders, backorders and expected delivery dates. Communicate regularly with manufacturers and vendor representatives. Review vendor pricing, availability, lead times and product changes. Help identify potential stock shortages before they affect customer orders. Review sales history and seasonal demand to assist with purchasing decisions. Help identify slow-moving, excess and obsolete inventory. Obtain pricing, samples, specifications and product information from manufacturers. Research alternative products and suppliers when needed. Help maintain accurate product costs and purchasing information in company systems. Assist with seasonal inventory planning and forecasting. Initially, this position will work closely with our General Manager to learn our vendors, products and purchasing processes. As experience is gained, the employee will assume greater responsibility for routine purchasing and vendor management. Product & Marketing Support A smaller portion of the position will involve product and marketing-related work, including: Helping prepare and update company catalogs and promotional materials. Organizing product photographs, specifications, descriptions and other information. Assisting with adding and updating products on company websites. Obtaining product literature and marketing materials from vendors. Helping introduce and promote new products and Gear & Safety proprietary product lines. Assisting with seasonal promotions and product launches. Helping prepare samples, literature and displays for trade shows. This is not primarily a marketing position. These responsibilities are closely related to the products, suppliers and purchasing activities of the company. Trade Shows & Vendor Events The position may involve approximately four to six trade shows, vendor events or industry meetings per year. At these events, the employee may meet with suppliers, learn about new products, identify potential vendors, attend product demonstrations and help represent Gear & Safety Products.
