JOB SUMMARY: To manage the activities of the purchasing department and purchase supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery cycle while meeting all inventory levels as per the budget. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Procurement of materials and components required for production and manufacturing support including identifying & evaluating new vendors. Negotiates for best cost, delivery and quality on assigned commodities. Create, submit, communicate and expedite purchase orders. Site visits to suppliers’ facilities. Assist Director of Operations in the development of annual purchasing budget and departmental goals. Working within our production planning department, plan material needs to support the demands of manufacturing and provide daily feedback on any items of concern that would impact production schedules. Monitoring of inventory received and other related jobs. Sub level production planning to support production process both internally and with out of state divisions. Partner with Accounting Department to lead the monthly inventory count. Provide reports and other information to management team. Provide purchasing support for new product development, line extensions, and process optimization. Compile purchasing information including price history, product quality and service to be used to evaluate new and existing suppliers. Maintain monthly purchase information and track spend to budget while documenting deviations. Actively participate on cross-functional teams on projects that drive continued company success and profitability. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BS in materials management, business management or related discipline (Associate’s Degree may be considered based on experience). 5 years purchasing experience. Experience in manufacturing environment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Effective, professional communication. Highly organized. Efficient in Word, Excel & Power Point Self-motivated. Energetic.
