POSITION SUMMARY The Manager, Production Planning and Scheduling will be responsible for providing tactical leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight across demand planning, inventory alignment, master production scheduling, and capacity optimization for all production departments within the BRC Group of Companies including, but not limited to, BRC and Woodlore. Reporting directly to the Director of Manufacturing, they will directly lead and manage the Production Scheduling team, collaborating closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Production Managers, Supervisors, and Customer Experience to ensure production schedules are executed safely, on time, and within budget, in alignment to Senior Leadership approvals. The Manager will drive continuous improvement, optimize shop-floor capacity, reduce order lead times, and maintain robust scheduling workflows in alignment with BRC's operational targets. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead, direct, and supervise the Production Scheduling team, providing coaching, performance management, training, and operational guidance to align daily scheduling activities with business goals. In partnership with executive and manufacturing leadership, establish best practices in master production scheduling (MPS), demand planning, inventory planning, and capacity planning across all production departments. Direct the development and optimization of daily and weekly master production schedules based on customer demand, real-time machine/labor capacity, material availability, and inventory levels. Oversee cross-functional communication and alignment with the Customer Experience team regarding order statuses, lead-time changes, special order requirements, and estimated delivery dates. Analyze plant order backlogs, capacity constraints, and production data to identify bottlenecks, strategize capacity-related order lead times, and drive initiatives to reduce lead times. Facilitate and lead regular production planning meetings with key stakeholders across Customer Experience, Engineering, Design, Purchasing, Quality, and Plant Operations. Oversee outsourcing strategies and vendor scheduling; facilitate communication, manage scopes of work, ensure efficient data transfer, and monitor external supplier delivery timelines. Drive shift planning and workforce capacity planning in collaboration with Production Managers and Supervisors to ensure production targets are achieved in a safe working environment. Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the scheduling department, utilizing Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles to streamline workflows, optimize machine loading, and improve scheduling accuracy. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) - including capacity utilization, schedule adherence, machine capability, weekly invoicing plans, and order distribution—reporting metrics regularly to senior management. Champion all Health & Safety awareness and policy compliance within the scheduling team, ensuring strict adherence to SOPs, Fit for Duty protocols, and workplace safety guidelines. Manage the accuracy of scheduling master data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing operations, and inventory planning parameters within the ERP/MRP system. Handle escalated scheduling conflicts, order fulfillment delays, and capacity challenges, developing proactive solutions to protect customer delivery commitments.
