Maritime Tactical SystemsJob Summary MARTAC is seeking an experienced Production Control & Material Planner to support the planning and execution of complex maritime production programs. This position serves as a critical link between Production, Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, Inventory, Quality, and Finance to ensure material requirements are identified, planned, procured, received, and available when required to support production schedules and contractual delivery commitments. The Production Control & Material Planner will translate production schedules, bills of material (BOMs), engineering requirements, inventory positions, and supplier lead times into executable material plans. The individual will maintain visibility of material readiness across multiple vessels and programs, identify shortages and schedule risks before they affect production, and drive cross-functional actions necessary to maintain the production plan. This is a hands-on planning position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working directly with ERP/MRP data, production schedules, BOMs, inventory records, purchase orders, supplier commitments, and engineering changes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Production and Material Planning Develop and maintain integrated material plans supporting vessel production schedules and contractual delivery requirements. Translate production schedules and BOM requirements into time-phased material demand. Determine material need dates, required-on-dock dates, and required procurement action dates based on production requirements and supplier lead times. Review MRP/ERP outputs and convert system-generated demand into actionable planning priorities. Monitor material availability by vessel, production phase, work center, and program. Maintain short-, mid-, and long-range material forecasts, including 30/60/90-day planning requirements. Identify long-lead material requirements early enough to protect contractual production schedules. Support development and maintenance of the master production schedule. Material Readiness and Shortage Management Maintain material-readiness status for assigned vessels and programs. Identify shortages, late material, allocation conflicts, and other constraints that could impact production. Develop and maintain shortage reports and drive cross-functional resolution of critical material issues. Coordinate with Purchasing to establish procurement priorities based on production need dates. Monitor open purchase orders and supplier commitments against required production dates. Identify schedule slippage and recommend recovery actions before shortages affect production. Coordinate material allocation when common components are required across multiple programs or vessels. Support production-kitting requirements and verify material readiness prior to scheduled production activities. ERP/MRP and Data Management Utilize the company's ERP/MRP system to plan and manage material requirements. Maintain accurate planning parameters, including lead times, order quantities, required dates, and other material-planning attributes. Support implementation and continued development of MARTAC's JAMIS ERP environment. Review ERP demand signals for accuracy and investigate discrepancies between system demand, inventory, BOMs, purchase orders, and actual production requirements. Support the Request → Requisition → Purchase Order process by ensuring requirements and required dates are properly identified before procurement execution. Develop planning reports and dashboards using ERP data and Microsoft Excel. Production Control Monitor actual production progress against the approved production schedule. Coordinate with Production leadership to understand changing priorities and their impact on material requirements. Participate in production planning and scheduling meetings.
