Takumi Stamping IncTakumi Stamping Inc. | Fairfield, Ohio Reports to: Manager | Work setting: Plant | Travel: Occasional travel to Texas and Canada plants Position Overview The Assistant Manager, Production Control is a hands-on operational leader who keeps customer demand, materials, production capacity, and logistics moving in sync within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This role translates changing requirements into executable schedules, leads the Production Control team, removes barriers to on-time delivery, and uses data to improve service, inventory performance, and plant efficiency. The successful candidate combines disciplined planning with decisive floor-level leadership, clear customer communication, and a continuous-improvement mindset. What Success Looks Like Production schedules remain aligned with customer demand, material availability, and plant capacity. Customer orders, including EDI and manually processed orders, move accurately and on time from receipt through shipment and invoicing. Delivery risks, shortages, and priority changes are identified early, communicated clearly, and resolved with minimal disruption. On-time delivery, order accuracy, inventory health, and related performance indicators show sustained improvement. Production Control employees receive clear priorities, timely coaching, and consistent accountability. Cross-functional partners have reliable information for making fast, effective operating decisions. Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning and Materials Control Own the daily production-control rhythm by building, monitoring, and adjusting schedules as customer demand and operating conditions change. Validate material and part availability, identify constraints, and coordinate recovery plans to protect production continuity. Monitor forecasts, inventory levels, customer releases, and capacity signals to anticipate shortages, excess inventory, and schedule risk. Order Fulfillment and Logistics Oversee EDI and manual order processing, ensuring accurate and timely communication to all affected departments. Coordinate shipping, receiving, carrier activity, and invoicing to support complete and on-time customer delivery. Confirm that finished goods are correctly prepared, documented, and shipped according to customer requirements. Customer and Supplier Coordination Serve as a key point of contact for order status, expedites, delivery concerns, and service recovery. Build productive relationships with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal partners. Communicate schedule changes, risks, and recovery actions promptly and professionally. Leadership and Operational Excellence Lead and support a Production Control organization with 9 direct and approximately 46 indirect hourly employees. Set daily priorities, assign work, manage schedules, and ensure consistent execution across the team. Participate in hiring and provide onboarding, training, coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when needed. Create a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, responsiveness, and customer focus. Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, and other functions to align production-control activities with plant goals. Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements that increase productivity, reduce delays, control cost, and strengthen data accuracy. Track and communicate key performance indicators, including on-time delivery and order accuracy, and lead countermeasures when performance falls short. Decision-Making Authority Exercises independent judgment in day-to-day production scheduling, order prioritization, logistics coordination, resource allocation, and routine issue resolution. Adjusts plans in response to changing demand and operating conditions, directs team activity, and escalates significant customer, capacity, quality, safety, or business risks to management.
