ATECH manufactures, maintains, and supervises the installation of lifesaving arresting systems at military airbases, both domestically and internationally. Arresting Systems are used to arrest fighter aircraft in distress, such as during aborted takeoffs or troubled landings. ATECH Inc. is seeking a talented and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team and support our purchasing and supplier management activities. The ideal candidate will participate in strategic sourcing, purchasing, and supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, government regulations and policies, while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness. This is a hands-on position requiring experience with purchasing, supplier communication, contract negotiations, and applicable federal procurement requirements. The role requires technical aptitude, the ability to interpret blueprints and drawings, alongside practical knowledge of common manufacturing processes. The successful candidate should be able to manage routine procurement activities independently after becoming familiar with ATECH’s products, procedures, and supplier base. Support and guidance will be available for unfamiliar or complex matters. Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate and select suppliers, obtain and analyze competitive quotations, negotiate purchasing terms, and manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality, on-time deliveries. Work closely with internal departments, including project management, quality, and engineering, to understand project needs, budgets, and timelines. Identify, investigate, and evaluate new vendors and suppliers. Maintain, organize, and control purchase orders, shipping notices, and other documentation to support on-time delivery and accurate record retention. Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding late deliveries, quality concerns, documentation issues, and other deficiencies. Follow up on active orders to ensure delivery is on schedule. Expedite orders as required to meet project directives. Identify reasonable opportunities for improvements and cost savings within the procurement function. Review drawings, specifications, and purchase requirements when sourcing manufactured components. Support compliance with applicable federal contracting requirements and company policies. Escalate significant supplier, quality, cost, or scheduling concerns when management involvement is required. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related field. Minimum of three years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management. Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and bills of material. Working understanding of manufacturing processes, such as machining, welding, and fabrication. Strong negotiating skills and experience with vendor and supplier negotiations. Familiarity with the FARS/DFARS, defense contracting, or government procurement requirements is preferred. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Access, Word, and Teams. Ability to independently manage routine purchasing activities and follow assigned priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with engineering, quality, project management, and other internal departments.
