Plant Locator

Overview BP Horticulture is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Plant Locator & Sourcing Specialist to join our Landscape team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, tagging, and securing top-quality plant material while aggressively comparing nursery pricing to ensure competitive cost management. You will serve as the eyes on the ground at regional nurseries, verifying plant health, standards, and availability to ensure our projects are supplied with premium inventory at the best market rates. Duties Locate plant material from nurseries throughout Homestead, Redland, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Understand botanical names, plant sizes, grades, and specifications. Build relationships with wholesale nursery growers. Negotiate prices and compare multiple suppliers. Inspect plant quality before purchasing. Coordinate plant pickups and deliveries. Keep accurate purchasing records and help maintain project budget. Obtain photos of plant material to owner in a timely manner. Skills Horticultural Knowledge: Strong knowledge of plant species, cultivars, grading standards, and visual health indicators (specifically relevant to local/regional growing zones). Negotiation & Math Skills: Proven ability to analyze price quotes, calculate margin impacts, and negotiate competitive pricing across multi-vendor quotes. Attention to Detail: Meticulous standard for quality selection; ability to spot structural flaws, root issues, or plant stress during tagging visits. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for dealing with nursery managers, internal procurement teams, and field managers. Driver’s License & Mobility: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel regularly to local and regional nurseries. Education & Experience E ducation and experience is preferred but not necesarry. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Field Work: 60%–70% of time spent outdoors visiting nurseries, farms, and job sites in varying weather conditions.
