Job Description: Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy Technician Position: Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient Hospital Shift: Day Shift – 10-Hour Shifts Required Experience: Hospital Inpatient Pharmacy Required Systems: Cerner and Omnicell Required Certification: CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital pharmacy team for a day-shift position working 10-hour shifts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in an acute-care hospital pharmacy setting, with a strong working knowledge of Cerner and Omnicell systems. This role is responsible for supporting pharmacists in the preparation, distribution, and management of medications to ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery to inpatient units. Candidates must have prior inpatient hospital pharmacy experience and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare, package, label, and distribute medications for hospitalized patients under pharmacist supervision. Utilize the Cerner electronic health record system to review medication orders, process medication requests, and support pharmacy workflows. Operate and maintain Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets, including medication replenishment, inventory management, and discrepancy resolution. Assist with medication dispensing, cart fills, unit-dose distribution, and medication delivery to inpatient nursing units. Support medication reconciliation and order processing workflows as assigned and within the scope of practice. Maintain accurate medication inventory, monitor expiration dates, and ensure proper medication storage. Follow hospital policies, pharmacy procedures, and applicable medication safety standards. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with medication handling, security, and regulatory requirements. Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related issues. Assist with sterile compounding, IV preparation, and other specialized pharmacy duties as required and qualified. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy work environment. Required Qualifications Previous inpatient hospital pharmacy experience is required. Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification is required. Hands-on experience with Cerner is required. Hands-on experience with Omnicell automated dispensing systems is required. Knowledge of inpatient medication distribution, unit-dose systems, and hospital pharmacy operations. Understanding of medication safety, pharmacy procedures, and inventory control. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, and lifting as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience in an acute-care hospital pharmacy. Familiarity with electronic medication orders, automated dispensing cabinets, medication replenishment, and pharmacy inventory systems. Experience with sterile compounding, IV admixtures, and USP-compliant procedures, if applicable to the assigned duties. Previous experience collaborating with pharmacists, nurses, and inpatient clinical teams. Schedule Day shift 10-hour shifts Specific start and end times will be provided by the hiring team.
