The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient supports inpatient pharmacy operations at Avon Hospital, a growing 126-bed community hospital, by helping ensure medications are prepared, distributed, and delivered safely and efficiently across multiple patient care areas. In addition to medication distribution and inventory management, this caregiver operates pharmacy automation systems, including the medication carousel and Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets, performs sterile compounding, triages medication requests and pharmacy phone calls, delivers medications throughout the hospital, and assists with inventory control and medication replenishment. This role offers the opportunity to support a collaborative pharmacy team while contributing to high-quality patient care in a dynamic inpatient environment. A caregiver in this position will work Monday through Friday on a shift scheduled between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM, 11:30 AM and 8:00 PM or 1:30 PM and 10:00 PM. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the Registered Pharmacist. Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems. Fill medications carts daily. Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the pharmacy department. Repackage bulk medications. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED. Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA). Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee. Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program Six months of hospital experience Physical Requirements: Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $21.50 Maximum hourly: $31.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
