Summary The Parts Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, profitability, and operational effectiveness of the dealership's Parts Department. This position oversees inventory management, parts sales, customer service, employee development, financial performance, and departmental compliance to ensure the availability of quality parts that support customer uptime and dealership growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus in sales growth and build long-lasting partnerships with the customer. Essential Duties Department Leadership Lead, develop, and manage all Parts Department personnel, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and employee development. Drive departmental goals, monitor performance, and implement strategies to achieve operational and financial objectives. Conduct regular team meetings and maintain effective communication across the dealership. Sales and Customer Relations Conduct regular customer site visits to strengthen partnerships, enhance customer satisfaction, and identify opportunities for business growth. Utilize CRM to track progress with customers and communicate across departments. Drive retail, wholesale, and internal parts sales growth while maintaining strong gross profit performance. Develop and implement sales initiatives, promotions, and customer retention strategies. Ensure exceptional service is provided to both external and internal customers and resolve customer concerns in a timely and professional manner. Operational Excellence Collaborate with other dealership departments to ensure timely parts availability and efficient workflow. Continuously evaluate and improve department processes, storage methods, and operational efficiency. Oversee shipping, receiving, documentation, and administrative processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Financial Performance Manage the department budget and monitor key performance indicators, including sales, gross profit, expenses, inventory turns, and lost sales. Analyze operational and financial reports and implement corrective actions as necessary to achieve profitability goals. Support collection efforts and ensure accurate processing and approval of department expenditures. Inventory Management Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support customer demand and service operations while maximizing inventory turns and minimizing obsolescence. Oversee purchasing, stocking, receiving, returns, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy. Manage special order processes and ensure efficient stock order procedures. Safety and Compliance Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment. Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Promote workplace safety through training, adherence to safety standards, and proper handling of materials and equipment. Additional Responsibilities Participate in management meetings and contribute to dealership-wide initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of commercial truck, heavy-duty equipment, automotive, or dealership parts experience. Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred. Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing, and parts operations. Proven leadership and employee development skills. Strong financial and business acumen. Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Proficiency with dealership management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
