Part-Time Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Instructor - Adult Workforce Development

POSITION: Part-Time as Needed CDL Instructor – Adult Workforce Development REPORTS TO: Director, Adult Workforce Director APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open until position is filled STARTING DATE: ASAP QUALIFICATIONS: Successful applicant must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements or eligibility to obtain required licensure; Proof of being licensed as the operator of a commercial motor vehicle for at least three years during the ten-year period preceding application; Must possess or be willing to obtain the required Ohio Department of Public Safety CDL Instructor credential and secure a valid adult education permit from the Ohio State Board of Education; Knowledge of CDL training, commercial motor vehicle safety regulations, pre-trip inspections, range instructions, road instructions, and student skill assessments; Strong communication, organization, and instructional skills; maintain an acceptable driving record and professional conduct consistent with Ohio Department of Public Safety Standards; Successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check. RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare lesson plans and provide both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction to adult learners; Instruct students in commercial vehicle operation, pre-trip inspections, backing maneuvers, safe driving practices, and applicable state and federal regulations; Evaluate student performance and progress toward successful completion of CDL training and testing requirements; Assist with the collection of documents required for accreditation; Maintain accurate student attendance, training, and program documentation; Assist with student recruitment, job placement and follow-up with employers to determine student progress; Assist with purchasing supplies, services, and equipment required for the program; Participate in program improvement activities, AWD events, and required meetings; Perform other duties as assigned. SALARY: Placement on the Adult part-time as needed hourly schedule TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Part time as needed; Hours will vary based on demands. No benefits with this position.
