Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with flatbed trailers across over-the-road routes, ensuring timely deliveries. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, following proper safety procedures for truck loading and unloading. Secure cargo on flatbeds using appropriate tie-downs, straps, and load securing devices to prevent shifting during transit. Navigate using GPS systems accurately, plan routes efficiently, and adapt to changing traffic conditions to meet delivery schedules. Comply strictly with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and hazardous goods handling protocols. Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, inspection reports, and delivery records in accordance with regulations. Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and route adjustments. Requirements Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers or flatbed trucks preferred. Proven experience in over-the-road (OTR) driving routes involving freight transportation across long distances. Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling for various cargo types such as freight, hazardous materials, or dangerous goods. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning tools for efficient delivery scheduling. Ability to handle manual transmission trucks and perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations. Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols related to commercial trucking. Strong driving skills with a focus on safety, route driving efficiency, and customer service excellence.
