We are looking for a Operations Shift Supervisor critical role responsible for the smooth and efficient operations of the organization. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring that all staff are working effectively and adhering to processes and procedures. The Operations Supervisor will also monitor performance and provide feedback and guidance to personnel as needed.
General purpose of the position: The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading terminal operations during an assigned shift. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of bulk fuel operations including the receipt of petroleum products from marine vessels and the loading of tanker trucks (among others) for final distribution. The Shift Supervisor coordinates shift personnel, enforces operating procedures, ensures regulatory compliance, and serves as the highest authority on-site during their shift. Key Responsibilities 1 Operational Oversight • Supervise daily terminal activities during the shift including ship discharge, tank transfers, additive dosing, and truck loading. • Monitor all field and control room operations to ensure continuity and safety of processes. 2 Personnel Supervision • Lead, direct, and support terminal operators during shift assignments. • Ensure compliance with shift schedules, task execution, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 3 Safety & Compliance • Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, PPE use, and operational permits (e.g., hot work, confined space). • Respond to and manage emergencies or abnormal conditions such as spills, leaks, or alarms. • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, 33CFR, API). 4 Marine & Truck Logistics • Coordinate with the Marine Scheduler and vessel agents for safe and timely product receipt. • Supervise truck rack activities, including driver documentation, load authorization, and terminal access. 5 Shift Handover & Reporting • Conduct thorough shift handovers with incoming/outgoing supervisors. • Document daily operations, incidents, maintenance issues, and performance metrics. 6 Equipment & Infrastructure Monitoring • Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with Maintenance to ensure operational readiness. • Conduct routine field inspections (pipelines, valves, pumps, fire systems, etc.). 7 Customer Service & Communication • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align dispatch schedules and inventory availability. • Ensure customer needs and service quality are maintained, especially during off-hours. 8 Continuous Improvement & Training • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and operational performance. • Support the onboarding and training of new personnel on shift. Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years in terminal operations, including product handling, marine discharge, and truck rack supervision.
Leadership experience in an industrial or high-risk environment is preferred.
Education, Certificates & Professional Licenses:
Undergraduate University Degree, Chemical, mechanical or industrial engineer, Industrial Technician or equivalent. Preferred.
HAZWOPER, TWIC, and applicable OSHA/API certifications preferred.
General and Technical Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instruccions, emails and / or standard procedures.
Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
Planning and organizational skills are required in order to prioritize and managed multiple demans in a fast-paced environment.
Position requires basic knowledge of computers programs as Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
Experience in data entry using ERP Systems (NAV preferred).
Knowledge of the gasoline/petroleum industry in Puerto Rico (preferred)
Strong understanding of fuel handling, tank farm systems, and marine unloading operations.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, terminal schematics, and operational procedures.
Competence in using terminal automation systems and incident reporting tools.
Strong decision-making skills under pressure.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Frequent walking, climbing, and exposure to outdoor conditions in a fuel terminal environment.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
