Step into a role where leadership meets impact.
We’re partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization to find an experienced Operations Manager ready to take ownership of a critical production area and help shape the future of plant performance. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on leadership role, values continuous improvement, and knows how to bring out the best in people and processes.

What you’ll be responsible for

As Operations Manager, you will lead the Extrusion Department while gradually expanding your scope across additional areas of the plant. Working closely with the Plant Manager, you will play a key role in driving operational excellence and building a strong, engaged workforce.

  • Lead daily manufacturing operations across Extrusion and partner functions including Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Packing, and Finishing
  • Champion a strong Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) culture, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace
  • Own department performance metrics including productivity, labor costs, quality, recovery, and equipment efficiency
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term operational strategies aligned with business goals
  • Coach and mentor supervisors and emerging leaders to strengthen the plant leadership pipeline
  • Drive workforce planning, training, and performance management initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure alignment and customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to collective bargaining processes and support effective labour relations
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, problem-solving efforts, and cost optimization strategies

What will make you successful

You’re a confident, thoughtful leader who can navigate complexity and bring structure where it’s needed most. You’re equally comfortable on the plant floor and in strategic discussions.

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience (10+ years in a related field)

Preferred:

  • Strong problem-solving skills in dynamic, less standardized environments
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, regulations, and business data
  • Familiarity with ISO/QS standards
  • Solid understanding of data, statistical concepts, and performance analysis

What’s in it for you

  • Retirement savings plan with company contributions
  • Education assistance to support your growth
  • Bonus eligibility tied to performance
  • Parental leave support
