Operational Excellence Lead - North America
VulyPlayAbout the role Vuly has spent almost 20 years designing trampolines, swing sets and play equipment that families love across Australia, New Zealand, North America, Europe and Asia. Our North American business is growing, and we're looking for an experienced, commercially minded Operational Excellence Lead to help us make every sale more profitable. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role, not a people management position. You won't be managing a team. Instead, you'll take direct ownership of identifying opportunities, solving complex operational challenges and delivering measurable financial outcomes. Your mission is margin: identify where we're losing money between the factory and the customer's backyard, develop practical solutions and see them through to completion. You'll have access to our in-house development team, work closely with our North American Operations Manager and have direct support from our GM of Global Operations and COO. We're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, challenging the status quo and taking personal accountability for results. What you'll do Map the money: Analyse costs between product margin and final margin, identifying where profitability is being lost and developing a prioritised 12- and 24-month improvement roadmap. Own the outcome: Identify high-impact commercial and operational opportunities, build the business case, implement solutions and measure the financial results. Build relationships that deliver: Develop and nurture strong, trusted partnerships with 3PLs, freight carriers, installers and last-mile providers. We want someone who can negotiate commercially while building relationships so strong that our partners will go into battle for us when it matters. Negotiate better outcomes: Challenge freight rates, supplier charges and service arrangements to secure sustainable improvements in cost and performance. Automate the pain away: Identify inefficient workflows and recurring operational problems, then work with our developers to design and implement scalable solutions. Guard the spend: Review freight invoices, identify billing discrepancies, recover overcharges and implement controls to prevent margin leakage. Improve our systems: Work hands-on with order management systems, integrations, APIs and fulfilment workflows to identify issues and coordinate permanent fixes. Fix the root cause: Investigate complex operational and customer escalations, resolve immediate issues and implement improvements to prevent recurrence. What you'll bring Essential Demonstrated experience delivering measurable cost reductions, operational improvements or margin growth in logistics, supply chain, eCommerce or related operations. Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to analyse costs, identify opportunities and quantify results. Hands-on experience managing and negotiating relationships with 3PLs, freight carriers or other logistics service providers. Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to earn trust, influence external partners and achieve outcomes without relying on formal authority. Ability to work independently, prioritise competing opportunities and take initiatives from investigation through to implementation. Experience identifying operational inefficiencies and translating solutions into clear requirements for technical teams. A practical understanding of order management systems, system integrations and operational workflows. Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills. Willingness to support occasional critical out-of-hours operational or system issues. Nice to have Experience in eCommerce, consumer products or bulky-goods logistics. Familiarity with LTL freight, last-mile delivery and installation networks. Experience working across both US and Canadian logistics markets. Experience designing and implementing process improvements or operational automation. Why Vuly? Real ownership: Take responsibility…
