Overview: Provides the research and resolution of penalty notices received by Operating Risk. Utilizes root cause analysis to identify penalty prevention enhancements. Responsibilities: Please note - this role will support our Paycor Tax Team. Review and analyze original tax returns and supporting documentation to determine amendment requirements. Prepare and process amended federal, state, and local tax returns accurately and efficiently. Research tax law changes and regulations related to amended return filings. Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies, errors, or missing information. Communicate with taxpayers, tax professionals, and internal departments to obtain required documentation and clarify return information. Maintain productivity and quality standards while managing a high-volume workload. Document case activity and maintain accurate records within designated systems. Monitor amended return inventory and prioritize work to meet established service level commitments. Respond to inquiries regarding amended return status, adjustments, and outcomes. Ensure compliance with company policies, IRS guidelines, and applicable state tax regulations. Participate in training and process improvement initiatives to enhance team performance and operational efficiency. Assist with special projects and other tax processing duties as assigned. Qualifications: Associate's Degree - Required Bachelor's Degree - Preferred 1 year of prior Accounting, Business or Paycor experience - Preferred 2+ year of Payroll/ Tax experience - Preferred Detail and accuracy oriented, strong organizational, problem- solving, and analytical proven skills. Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. Ability to interface with multiple departments, multi-task, and work independently. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, and Excel. Compensation: In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $24.93 - $39.17 hourly. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
