Event Setup & Breakdown Crew | About the Role Historic Wakefield Barn is looking for strong and dependable individuals to join our event setup and breakdown crew! This is a flexible, as-needed position that is perfect for individuals looking to earn extra money without committing to a fixed weekly schedule. Our crew is responsible for preparing the venue for weddings and special events by setting up tables, chairs, and other event furniture according to the event layout. Occasionally, team members will also assist with breaking down and moving furniture after an event. This is a first-to-claim-shift position. Available shifts are shared with the team, and individuals can claim the shifts that work best for their schedules. We typically provide approximately one week's notice, making this a great opportunity for those seeking flexible, short-term work. Most shifts last approximately 1–3 hours , depending on the event's needs. Responsibilities Set up and arrange tables, chairs, and other event furniture according to provided floor plans and layouts. Move furniture and equipment throughout the venue as needed. Assist with occasional event breakdowns, including removing, stacking, and storing tables and chairs. Work efficiently to complete setup and breakdown within the scheduled timeframe. Follow instructions from venue management and work collaboratively with other crew members. Handle furniture and equipment carefully to prevent damage to the venue and its property. Qualifications & Requirements Ability to lift and carry at least 50- 75 pounds independently. Physically capable of standing, bending, lifting, and moving furniture for the duration of a shift. Reliable transportation to and from Historic Wakefield Barn. Dependable, punctual, and responsive when claiming shifts. No previous event experience required; a positive attitude and reliability are essential. No age restriction, provided the individual can safely meet the physical requirements and perform the job responsibilities. Schedule & Compensation Flexible, on-call scheduling: Claim available shifts as they are posted. Advance notice: Typically around one week before the scheduled shift, depending on event needs. Short shifts: Most shifts are approximately 1–3 hours, may vary based on the event. Pay based on labor requirements: Compensation is determined by the amount of labor required for the assigned shift and will be communicated before the shift is accepted.
