Role and Objectives: The Mobile Equipment Manager, under the direction of the General Manager of Manufacturing, is responsible for providing direction and assistance to the Mechanics Team. They will use their experience and expertise to maintain and improve the reliability of mobile equipment, reduce downtime, and maximize efficiency. The Mobile Equipment Manager will work closely with all corporate production teams to organize and execute corrective and preventative maintenance activities with the overall objective of ensuring improved equipment reliability and reduced overall maintenance costs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote the health and safety of your team, collaborate with the safety team to evolve the team’s standard working procedures and to avoid complacency. Lead and mentor the mechanics team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Help build budgets for the Mobile Equipment Department including monthly lease payments, external mechanical services, technician training, tooling, preventative & corrective repairs, consumables, and labour. Maintain a preventative maintenance program to reduce costly mechanical downtime. Track the up-time percentage on critical mobile equipment and help with the budget where new capital should be spent. Conduct quality control of the department, ensuring jobs are done efficiently and effectively and guide the team, when necessary, on where and how to improve. Ensure the shops are organized and clean using downtime to have employees work on prep areas and tool maintenance. Oversee the management of storerooms and inventory, including the procurement of critical parts. Oversee the fluid analysis program and use the results to guide decision making. Work with the production/operation team to help improve the longevity of our mobile equipment. If operators are causing damage or unneeded wear, talk with their supervisor to help get it addressed immediately. Ensure an effective structure that will promote a highly functioning Mechanics Team and offer intensive support and leadership. Ensure our mobile fleet has access to a mechanic during all operational hours. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure the team’s ongoing growth and success. Help ensure the work is properly scheduled and prioritized based on company needs. Promote a positive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, reflecting the company’s core values and principles. Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures. Other duties as requested or required. REQUIREMENTS: Education Trade Certification or Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience in maintenance, construction, engineering, wood processing, or related field preferred Experience Minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience in a similar role. Industrial, mobile maintenance experience is preferred. Skills & Knowledge Strong knowledge and understanding of maintenance strategies and methodologies. Self-starter who leads with integrity while maintaining a respectful and safe working environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer focus. Strong organizational and planning skills. WORK CONDITIONS: Location: this position travels between sites as needed and reports to the Kalesnikoff Lumber Company site at 2090 Highway 3A, Castlegar BC. Schedule: Monday- Friday, Day Shift.
