Your day as an MHE Service Technician II Morning toolbox check. Work orders open. You head to the first call: a sit-down forklift due for a full PM. By midday, you're swapping filters and fluids on an LP unit. In the afternoon, you isolate a steering issue on an electric reach truck with your DVOM. Throughout the day, you collaborate with a lead technician or manager, and you back up Level 3 techs when complex repairs arise. You’re the go-to expert in either LP or electric systems—and you’re confident handling repairs across both platforms. What you’ll tackle Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on material handling equipment (LP and electric) with self-sufficiency. Execute forklift PM services, including: Fluid services: engine oil, transmission fluid, differential gear lube, and hydraulic fluid. Filter changes: air, oil, fuel, and ATF. Complete tune-ups: set valve clearances; replace spark plugs and plug wires. Adjust brakes/risers; inspect and repack wheel bearings. Inspect and water forklift batteries on a defined schedule; remove, repair, and install batteries as needed. Perform steering and basic overheating diagnostics and repairs. Rotate attachment pads; replace parts such as horns, lights, and tires. Handle minor paint touch-ups on equipment. Hit performance targets: complete 30+ PMs per month and maintain 80–90% productivity. What makes you successful 1–2 years of troubleshooting experience on either electric or LP forklifts (and capable of basic repairs on both). Hands-on experience with attachments and related repairs. Foundational knowledge of electrical, LP, and hydraulic systems; comfortable using a DVOM. Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow service manuals. Strong customer service, clear communication, and solid computer skills (MS Office). Bring your own hand tools. Post-secondary/technical education is a plus but not required. Physical and work environment Lift and/or pull 75+ lbs without restriction. Work outdoors in inclement weather as required. Operate in high-noise environments and around respiratory hazards without restriction. Stand or lie down for extended periods to access components. Move with flexibility to reach, maneuver, and service equipment. Willingness to travel as needed.
