Location: Laredo, TX (servicing Laredo, Hebbronville, and Zapata) Job Type: Part-Time / 1099 Independent Contractor Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM Compensation: Starting at $40 per day guaranteed, with potential for higher earnings based on clinic pickups Job Description My Advanced Lab Inc. is seeking a reliable and responsible Medical Courier / Specimen Pickup Driver based in Laredo, Texas, to assist with the pickup, transportation, and shipment of laboratory specimens from our partnering medical clinics. This is a part-time, on-call opportunity ideal for someone looking for supplemental income with a consistent weekday availability window. We are currently starting with five partnering clinics: three in Laredo, one in Hebbronville, and one in Zapata. As our laboratory continues to grow and establish relationships with additional clinics, we anticipate more pickup opportunities and increased earning potential for our courier. The driver will be responsible for collecting specimens from assigned clinics, safely transporting them according to laboratory procedures, consolidating specimens into a single shipment, and delivering the package to UPS in Laredo. Compensation We offer a guaranteed minimum payment of $40 per scheduled day for being available during the designated on-call hours, even when no clinic pickups are required. Pickup rates are as follows: Laredo Clinics: $15 per clinic pickup Hebbronville, TX: $50 per clinic pickup Zapata, TX: $50 per clinic pickup Daily compensation is based on whichever amount is greater: the $40 daily guarantee OR the total amount earned from completed clinic pickups. These amounts are not added together. For example: No pickups: $40 Two Laredo clinic pickups: $40 Three Laredo clinic pickups: $45 One Hebbronville pickup: $50 All five clinic pickups: $145 Pickup fees include all mileage, fuel, and vehicle-related expenses. No additional mileage reimbursement is provided. As we expand our clinic network, additional pickup opportunities may become available, providing the potential for higher daily and weekly earnings. Schedule & Service Area Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Must remain available and reachable during the scheduled on-call window. Pickup assignments will vary based on daily clinic specimen availability. Out-of-town pickups in Hebbronville and Zapata may require arrival at the first assigned clinic by 3:00 PM . The driver must coordinate assigned pickups to allow sufficient time to return to Laredo and prepare specimens for shipment. All collected specimens must be consolidated, properly packaged, and delivered to the designated UPS location in Laredo by 5:30 PM . No scheduled weekend pickups. Key Responsibilities Respond promptly to specimen pickup requests and assigned routes. Travel to assigned medical clinics to collect laboratory specimens. Verify specimens and accompanying documentation according to laboratory procedures. Safely transport specimens while maintaining proper handling, storage, and temperature requirements. Follow all applicable laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for specimen pickup, handling, transportation, packaging, and shipping. Consolidate collected specimens from multiple clinics into one properly packaged shipping box. Deliver the completed shipment to UPS in Laredo by the required deadline. Maintain accurate pickup records and communicate pickup and shipment completion to laboratory staff. Promptly report specimen issues, missed pickups, or potential shipping delays. Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with clinic staff. Requirements Valid driver's license. Reliable personal vehicle with active automobile insurance.
