Responsibilities: The Materials Supervisor is responsible for leading night-shift materials operations to maintain efficient material flow and ensure production receives the required parts and supplies on time. This role oversees shipping, receiving, warehouse activities, inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and production material support. As the primary materials leader during off-shift hours, the Materials Supervisor works closely with production and leadership teams to support plant goals related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities: Lead, coach, and oversee Materials Team Leads, drivers, and warehouse personnel assigned to the night shift. Promote accountability, safe work practices, strong performance, and consistent adherence to established procedures. Review and approve employee timecards, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. Coordinate material movement and replenishment activities to maintain uninterrupted support for production schedules. Monitor material availability and promptly communicate shortages, potential disruptions, or delivery risks to the appropriate teams. Oversee shipping and receiving activities to ensure materials are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with customer and internal requirements. Ensure material transactions, labels, shipping documents, and receiving records are completed correctly within Plex and other applicable systems. Plan, coordinate, and complete cycle-count activities while maintaining inventory accuracy and compliance with PFEP requirements. Maintain proper material presentation, storage locations, container management, replenishment methods, and inventory control practices. Research inventory variances, identify potential causes, and communicate findings to Materials Planning for corrective action and root-cause analysis. Ensure compliance with established material-handling, storage, traceability, and inventory-control requirements. Lead the shift response to material-related concerns, including containment activities and support for nonconforming-material processes. Communicate key operational issues, staffing concerns, inventory matters, and shift performance to management. Provide thorough and effective shift handoffs to ensure continuity between night- and day-shift operations. Identify opportunities to improve material flow, warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy, and overall operational performance. Support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives, including audit readiness and compliance with company procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Location: Portage, IN Schedule/Shift Details: 2nd shift, 6pm to 4:30am, up to 7 days a week. Qualifications: Associate degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant work experience will be considered. At least 1–3 years of experience in materials, warehousing, logistics, shipping/receiving, or inventory control within a manufacturing environment. Previous supervisory, lead, or team-lead experience is strongly preferred. Automotive manufacturing experience is preferred. Working knowledge of inventory-control processes, warehouse operations, material flow, and production-support activities. Experience with ERP or MRP systems; experience using Plex is preferred. Familiarity with cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, material traceability, and PFEP practices. Understanding of IATF standards and customer-specific requirements is preferred.
