The Materials Manager owns SI Utility's inventory: what is on hand, where it is located, what job it is allocated to, and how it moved each week. The role centers on accuracy, availability, and heat and lot traceability in the inventory system, and works closely with purchasing and the production floor. Essential Duties: Maintain accurate on-hand inventory of plate and fasteners by heat or lot, size, and location in SOS Inventory Receive material by matching pack slips and mill test reports (MTRs) to purchase orders before put-away; keep holds and rejects out of available inventory Manage put-away and locations across the plate yard, shaft racks, flange rack, and fastener cage Allocate material to jobs and work orders, and manage unallocated stock Record material issued to production by heat, quantity, and date, and correct over-issues the same day Record transfers, job reallocations, returns to stock, and adjustments as they happen Track poles at the galvanizer until they return or ship, and reconcile returned weight Track purchase orders and site deliveries for outsourced anchor bolts and AB cages, keeping them out of on-hand inventory Perform weekly cycle counts and post variance adjustments with a reason Identify aged, excess, and remnant material and recommend a disposition Maintain heat traceability so every shop heat ties to an MTR; keep material with missing certs on hold Reconcile receipts to open purchase orders, coordinating with purchasing Pull five weekly SOS Inventory reports (inventory, WIP allocation, receiving, issuance, and movement), mark exceptions, and review them with the Director of Operations Other duties as assigned Requirements Experience and Education High school diploma or GED 3+ years in inventory, warehouse, or stores in steel fabrication, poles, structural steel, or heavy manufacturing Experience running locations, cycle counts, and material issues, and explaining variances Skills and Abilities Able to read an MTR and match a heat number to a plate or a lot number to a fastener Able to pull and interpret system inventory reports Proficient in Microsoft Excel Strong attention to detail and accuracy Physical Requirements and Work Environment On site in Midland, TX, including the yard and shop floor; this is not a remote position Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) Benefits Full-time employees are eligible for: Medical insurance Dental and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Basic and voluntary life insurance Employer-paid short-term and long-term disability Employment Type: Full-time, salary (exempt) Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment visa sponsorship.
