Job Title : Materials Manager Reports To: Director of Operations FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt Compensation: Commensurate with experience Summary The Materials Manager is responsible for ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time to meet customer demand, which involves managing inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and overseeing production schedules. This role is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and satisfying customer requirements effectively. Duties and Responsibilities Oversee the material planners, customer service representatives and shipping/receiving teams. Work with teams to develop ideas, strategies and programs to optimize inventory dollars for the site on a continual basis, including planning for excessive and obsolete inventory. Lead inventory accuracy initiatives (physical inventory, cycle counting program). Assist material planners to develop a proactive material plan; verify order quantities relative to weekly/monthly production schedules; analyze inventory levels and adjust orders as necessary. Work with production management, material planners, and customer service to level-load customer demand. In conjunction with the Purchasing department, help maintain relationships with suppliers to effectively address issues related to quality, cost, price and delivery of product. Lead team to achieve targets for customer OTD, inventory $’s, supplier OTD, expedited freight in/out $’s. Work with team to identify vulnerabilities with current procedures to close operational gaps Help educate supply chain and production team members on the benefits of Lean and establish Lean Pull Systems where appropriate in manufacturing and shipping. Responsibilities include hiring, appraising, and developing employees; planning, assigning, directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; resolving problems and helping the team to work in a collaborative manner. Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management software. Other relevant duties as assigned. A.) from four-year college or university in supply chain, logistics or a related field; minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Materials Manager. APICS certification a plus. Language Skills Ability to communicate information effectively and respond professionally to questions from managers and customers. Reasoning Skills Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where at times only limited information is available. Computer Skills High level of skill with Excel, Microsoft applications; MRP proficiency.
