Materials Manager
Center Phase EnergyWe are seeking an experienced Material Manager – Utility Operations to support utility construction and operations activities in the New Orleans, Louisiana area. This position will play a critical role in ensuring field crews and project teams have the materials they need, when they need them. The Material Manager will coordinate, track, and manage utility material orders and deliveries, maintaining accurate visibility of materials that have been ordered, shipped, received, outstanding, or backlogged. This position requires a strong understanding of electric utility distribution and transmission materials , excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, field personnel, project management, and client representatives. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who can work independently, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and follow material issues through to resolution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage and track material orders supporting utility construction and operations projects. Monitor material shipments and deliveries from order placement through receipt. Maintain accurate records identifying: Materials ordered Materials shipped Materials received Materials outstanding Backordered or backlogged materials Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules, shortages, backorders, and discrepancies. Communicate material status and potential shortages to project managers, supervisors, field personnel, and client representatives. Identify material needs and proactively address potential delays that could impact crews or project schedules. Coordinate delivery of materials to appropriate project locations, staging areas, or field crews. Review packing lists, shipping documentation, purchase orders, and receiving information for accuracy. Investigate discrepancies between materials ordered, shipped, and received and work with the appropriate parties to resolve issues. Maintain organized material tracking reports and documentation. Prioritize competing material needs based on project schedules, crew requirements, and operational priorities. Work closely with field operations to understand upcoming material requirements and anticipated demand. Provide regular updates on material availability and outstanding orders. Follow up consistently on unresolved material issues until they are closed. Maintain professional working relationships with vendors, suppliers, field personnel, project teams, and client representatives. Support project teams with material-related information and documentation as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications Previous experience managing, coordinating, or tracking materials in the electric utility industry . Working knowledge of electric distribution and transmission materials . Experience coordinating material orders, shipments, deliveries, and receiving. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate material records. Strong communication and follow-up skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to prioritize multiple requests and material needs in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve material issues efficiently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or other material tracking or project management systems. Ability to work effectively with vendors, project management, field crews, and client representatives. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting utility construction, storm restoration, or electric utility operations. Familiarity with Entergy or similar utility material requirements and processes. Experience working with both transmission and distribution projects.
