Shipper/Receiver – Metal Manufacturing Overview We are seeking a reliable, proactive Shipper/Receiver to handle sheet metal and fabricated parts, maintain inventory, and support shipping and receiving operations. Our facility operates in an extremely fast-paced environment , supporting construction and trades. This role requires a strong sense of urgency, consistent productivity, and the initiative to keep materials moving and work centres supplied. You must be able to prioritize competing tasks and work quickly while maintaining safety and accuracy. **Material-handling experience in a metal manufacturing environment and a valid forklift certificate are required.** Responsibilities Load and unload trucks using forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Move sheet metal and fabricated parts between work centres to support production. Receive, organize, and store raw materials and finished parts. Retrieve and verify the correct paperwork for truck pickups and deliveries. Check incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and report shortages or damage. Ensure skids are properly packed, wrapped, and labelled with the correct shipment information. Review inventory and communicate updates, shortages, and discrepancies to production. Maintain organized storage areas and clear pathways. Perform routine equipment inspections and follow workplace safety procedures. Coordinate with production and shipping teams to meet daily priorities and deadlines. Requirements Experience moving sheet metal and fabricated parts in a metal manufacturing environment. Valid forklift certificate and hands-on forklift operating experience. Previous shipping and receiving experience. Knowledge of sheet metal types and thicknesses, including gauges. Ability to accurately handle shipping paperwork, labels, and inventory records. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and clear communication. Ability to maintain a productive pace, adapt to changing priorities, and take initiative without constant direction. Knowledge of safe material-handling, loading, and unloading procedures. Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks.
