Material Handler

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Material Handler to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently managing the movement of materials within the warehouse, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse distribution processes and the ability to operate various equipment. Duties Load and unload materials from trucks and containers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and clamp trucks. Package finished goods materials for shipping, including palletization. Pick materials from multiple buildings on campus for the day's work orders. Perform receiving tasks, ensuring all materials are accounted for and properly documented. Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation and report any maintenance needs. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and improve efficiency in material handling processes. Adhere to safety protocols while performing heavy lifting and operating heavy equipment. Assist in training new employees on best practices for materials handling and equipment operation. Experience Previous experience in warehouse distribution or materials handling is preferred. Familiarity with order picking, receiving processes, and warehouse management systems is highly desirable. Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, or clamp trucks is essential. Mechanical knowledge related to equipment maintenance is a plus. Background in construction or similar fields can be beneficial for understanding material handling requirements. Prior experience as a warehouse supervisor is an advantage but not mandatory.
