JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing Operations role supports AOPA’s marketing programs by preparing audience segments, maintaining marketing dashboards, and ensuring campaign data is accurate and usable across marketing systems.
This role works heavily in Salesforce Marketing Cloud to build and maintain data extensions, support automations and journeys, and prepare audience extracts for email and direct mail campaigns. The position also maintains marketing performance dashboards using tools such as GA4, Looker Studio, and Tableau. The role collaborates closely with marketing and analytics teams to ensure campaign data is reliable; reporting is clear, and marketers have the information they need to evaluate performance.
Success in this role means marketing teams have reliable audience segments, accurate dashboards, and clear campaign reporting.
This position does not manage staff but works cross-functionally with marketing, membership, and analytics teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Marketing Data & Segmentation (50–60%):
Build and maintain Salesforce Marketing Cloud Data Extensions used for campaign targeting and personalization.
Prepare audience segments and campaign lists for email and direct mail programs using Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce 360 (SF360), and other marketing data sources.
Assist in developing audience targeting models using historical campaign and member data to help identify prospects with the highest likelihood of response.
Assist with Salesforce Marketing Cloud automations, journeys, and triggered campaigns.
Perform QA checks on campaign data and segmentation to ensure accuracy before deployment.
Troubleshoot data-related issues affecting campaign execution or reporting.
Maintain documentation for segmentation logic, workflows, and campaign data structures.
Support marketers with list pulls, audience analysis, and campaign targeting.
Reporting & Dashboard Support (30–40%):
Maintain dashboards that track marketing performance across email, web, and digital channels.
Pull and validate campaign data from marketing systems to ensure reporting accuracy.
Support reporting using GA4, Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar tools.
Assist in maintaining consistent marketing tracking, including UTM parameters and campaign naming standards.
Aggregate data from multiple systems to provide a clear view of campaign and audience performance.
Provide ad-hoc data pulls and reporting to support marketing teams.
Collaboration & Operational Support (10–15%):
Work closely with the Email, Web, Membership, and Products teams to support data needs for marketing programs.
Serve as a bridge between marketing teams and analytics/technical teams when troubleshooting data issues.
Help maintain consistent documentation of data structures, reporting definitions, and campaign tracking standards.
Communicate campaign performance data clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
2–4 years of experience in marketing analytics, marketing operations, or digital marketing data roles.
Hands-on experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Data Extensions and segmentation.
Working knowledge of SQL for filtering, segmentation, and reporting.
Experience building or maintaining dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Looker Studio, or Power BI.
Experience working with web analytics tools such as GA4.
Strong attention to detail, especially when working with campaign lists and segmentation logic.
Ability to clearly communicate data and reporting insights to non-technical marketing stakeholders.
Experience working with multiple marketing data sources and consolidating data for reporting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting email marketing programs or marketing automation platforms.
Experience preparing data for direct mail campaigns.
Salesforce Marketing Cloud certification or relevant coursework.
Experience working with campaign tracking frameworks (UTMs, source codes, campaign naming).
Experience supporting marketing teams in a campaign reporting or analytics capacity.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Generally, a climate-controlled office environment with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when attending aviation-related events, including exposure to higher altitudes and confined spaces when flying in general aviation aircraft.

This position is located at AOPA’s Frederick, MD, office.
The salary range for this position is: $75,000 - $85,000, depending on education and experience.
