Applicants MUST have previous hands-on professional experience creating and maintaining manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOMs), developing or maintaining manufacturing labor routings, and working with ERP/MRP systems. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered. Furniture manufacturing experience is NOT required. We welcome qualified candidates from other manufacturing industries who possess the technical knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to perform this role. About Edgecombe Furniture Edgecombe Furniture is an established and growing manufacturer specializing in commercial and hospitality upholstered seating and custom furniture. Due to continued company growth, increasing product development demands, and the expansion of our upholstered seating programs, we are adding another experienced BOM & Routing Specialist to our Engineering team. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and detail-oriented Manufacturing BOM & Routing Specialist responsible for developing, maintaining, and verifying accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing labor routings, and product costing information. This is a critical position within our manufacturing operation. The accuracy of our BOMs and labor routings directly impacts product pricing, material purchasing, inventory requirements, production planning, and profitability . This is NOT a desk-only position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working both at a computer and directly on the manufacturing floor. We need someone who proactively works with production personnel, observes manufacturing processes, gathers accurate information, and resolves discrepancies without waiting for direction. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, takes ownership of assignments, and understands that delays in their work can directly affect Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and customer orders. Key Responsibilities Bill of Materials (BOM) Development & Management Independently create, maintain, and revise accurate manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and existing products. Identify and document required materials, components, part numbers, quantities, and specifications. Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product documentation to establish accurate material requirements. Verify BOM accuracy to support timely and correct material purchasing. Maintain accurate BOM structures and product information within the company's ERP/MRP system. Process engineering changes, product revisions, and BOM updates. Proactively investigate and resolve material discrepancies that could affect pricing, purchasing, or production. Manufacturing Labor Routings & Product Costing Develop and maintain accurate manufacturing labor routings, including operation sequences, labor requirements, and standard production times. Work directly with production personnel to understand manufacturing methods and establish realistic labor requirements. Conduct or assist with time studies and verify labor standards through direct shop-floor observation. Review existing labor routings and make necessary corrections to improve costing accuracy. Ensure material and labor information supports accurate product costing and pricing. Identify manufacturing inefficiencies and opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs. Hands-On Production Floor Involvement Regularly and proactively visit the manufacturing floor to observe production processes, verify material requirements, and gather accurate routing information.
