Maintenance Procurement Clerk

COMPANY VISION AND STRATEGY SUMMARY Valley Milk, LLC is a state-of-the-art 24/7/365 powdered milk ingredient processing facility on a 30-acre site in Turlock, CA. The plant is designed for and has capacity to process 2.5 MM pounds of raw milk per day. The company is owned by a highly successful group of dairy farmers and related dairy professionals. Our mission is to be a world class dairy ingredient processor and marketer of premium milk powders with emphasis on quality, food safety, and profitability. Valley Milk sources 100% of its raw milk requirements from designated dairies owned and operated by the founding families, from over 34,000 cows within a 45-mile radius of our plant location. The Maintenance Procurement Clerk provides administrative support for the Maintenance Team. Job Duties Procurement Management: Identify and source suppliers for maintenance parts, tools, and equipment. Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality. Place purchase orders for maintenance supplies and track order fulfillment. Coordinate with vendors to resolve any issues related to deliveries or product quality. Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of maintenance supplies. Conduct regular inventory audits and update records to reflect current stock. Reorder supplies as necessary to prevent shortages and disruptions in maintenance operations. Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, including purchase orders, receipts, and invoices. Ensure documentation complies with company policies and regulatory requirements. Prepare and submit reports on procurement activities, inventory levels, and cost analysis. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with maintenance technicians and managers to understand their supply needs. Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of ordered items. Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to procurement and inventory. Cost Management: Assist in monitoring and controlling procurement costs to stay within budget. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in the procurement process. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all procurement practices adhere to food safety standards and industry regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements related to maintenance supplies in a food manufacturing environment. Competencies : Collaboration Skills Communication Proficiency Detail Oriented Learning Orientation Personal Effectiveness/Credibility Problem Solving/Analysis Teamwork Orientation Technical Capacity Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement, inventory management, or a related role, preferably in a food manufacturing or industrial environment. Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with procurement software or ERP systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. Occasional standing, walking, and climbing as needed to inspect inventory or facilities. Working Conditions: Typical office environment with occasional exposure to a manufacturing floor. May require occasional overtime or weekend work depending on procurement needs. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work : The Maintenance Procurement Clerk is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly position and reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
