Role Overview The Logistics Supervisor will oversee and coordinate hourly employees across multiple axle assembly and logistics operations on the second shift at the Detroit Manufacturing Plant. The role will manage a team of up to 30 hourly employees and focus on manpower planning, parts availability, KPI performance, shipping/receiving operations, and overall shop-floor efficiency within a UAW environment . Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily activities of hourly logistics and assembly employees. Manage manpower, line balancing, and absenteeism. Ensure parts availability to support uninterrupted production. Monitor KPIs, including Hours Per Unit (HPU) . Manage overtime for hourly employees in accordance with UAW guidelines. Lead shift kickoff meetings and maintain effective communication across shifts. Oversee axle shipping and receiving dock operations. Collaborate with Operations, Assembly, Maintenance, and Supplier Management teams. Implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, quality, and efficiency. Develop and maintain production tracking and quality control systems. Prepare production reports and personnel records. Resolve production and processing issues with technical and administrative teams. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. 7–8 years of relevant supervisory experience , preferably in the automotive industry. Experience working in a UAW environment is required. Strong verbal communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and manufacturing operations. Knowledge of machinery, tools, and equipment maintenance. Preferred Skills Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field. SAP experience. Power BI experience. Experience managing KPIs through large-scale dashboard tools. Automotive manufacturing experience. Additional Notes Manager prefers in-person interviews . Candidates with a pattern of short-term employment, particularly changing roles every 6–12 months, may not be considered. Weekend coverage is a regular expectation of the position. Candidate resumes should clearly demonstrate supervisory experience and UAW/automotive manufacturing exposure.
